Goede Gets It Done In ASA
Minnesota Challenge Series Race At Raceway Park SHAKOPEE, MN (July 9, 2006) - Jacob Goede turned in a dominant run as he took top honors in the ASA Minnesota Challenge Series 75 lap Feature at Raceway Park in Shakopee. The fourth stop for the ASA Minnesota Challenge Series brought the touring
series back to Raceway Park and it was Goede, a regular at the track, putting on
the show at the front of the field. Darren Wolke led the field to green as Goede
quickly jumped into the second spot. Goede then moved alongside of Wolke and
took the lead on lap four. Sixth starting Jason Schneider worked his way into
second as Goede was beginning to catch the rear of the field. The lapped cars of
Joe Knickel and Mark Holie were running side-by-side when Goede came up on them.
Goede backed off the throttle as there was no way to get around and this allowed
Schneider to edge ahead and take the lead momentarily on lap 16. The leaders
somehow shook off the slower cars and Goede once again put himself back out in
front. Goede stretched his lead to a full straightaway when the caution flew for
debris on lap 29. On the restart, Goede held the lead as Schneider and Donny
Reuvers fought it out for second. Reuvers would take over second as Schneider
and Dean Cornelius made it a four car freight train at the head of the field.
Reuvers tried both the high and low sides as he made his assault to take the
lead, but Goede held strong and continued to show the way. A couple of cautions
towards the end of the race slowed the action a bit, but it was the fight for
the lead which was the highlight of the race as Goede held on to take the win.
Reuvers took home second and maintains the ASA Minnesota Challenge Series Points
lead heading into the final two races of the season in August. Cornelius’ late
rally allowed him to take third, while Schneider and Gary Petrash rounded out
the top five. Raceway Park, Shakopee, MN 1. Dean Cornelius (Chaska) 2. Donny Reuvers (Dundas) 3. Tim Olson (Hamel) 4.
