Eldora Washed Out; Wilson Wins
Championship; Blonde Wins Rookie of the Year
ROSSBURG, OH (9-30-06) – The All Star Circuit of Champions visited Eldora
Speedway for the final time in 2006 only to have the season finale washed out by
several showers that passed through the area. Heavy rains fell in the late
afternoon just after the pit gates were opened. It took several hours to get the
track back into shape and the Eldora crew did a masterful job in keeping the
racing surface from getting away from them. A few more brief showers fell, but
things were still scheduled to go on as planned.
Just after 7:30 pm the first set of hot laps rolled onto the track. At the same
time, the blackest of clouds rolled over the speedway from the West with heavy
rain visible to the North. Two sessions of hot laps were completed before the
rain started to fall once again. This time it fell for quite some time and it
was eventually decided that it would take several more hours to get the track
back to racing condition. With the full slate of events yet to be run it was
decided the event would be canceled. At 8:30 pm the announcement was made and
all fans in attendance received a full refund at the gate. The cancellation
fittingly brought to a close a season plagued by rain outs with this being the
11th. The All Stars appreciate the hard work and effort put in by the Eldora
staff and track crew to get this one in, but Mother Nature had the final word on
the 2006 All Star season.
Despite all the rain, Benton Ridge, Ohio’s Greg Wilson will be crowned the
2006 All Star Champion at the awards banquet. The date for this event will be
announced later. Congratulations to Greg and car owner Verl Warnimont of
Findlay, Ohio. Congrats also go out to Bucyrus, Ohio’s Brock Mayes who
finished in the runner up spot. Chad Blonde from Litchfield, MI finished the
season in 3rd place and will also take home the 2006 All Star Rookie of the Year
honors. Terre Haute, Indiana’s Paul May was 4th. Danville, Indiana’s Danny
Smith was 5th. Brandon Martin from Attica, Ohio was 6th and Burton, Ohio’s
Barry Ruble was 7th. Fowler, Ohio’s Dale Blaney was 8th. Albuquerque, New
Mexico’s James Mosher was 9th and Leipsic, Ohio’s Butch Schroeder rounded
out the Top 10.
The All Stars have already begun planning for the 2007 season and many
announcements will be made throughout the off season. Please visit the All Star’s
official web site at www.allstarsprint.com to keep up with news and events over

The All Stars would like to thank all the fans who came out to see us this
season and we would also like to thank all the competitors who came to race and
put on a great, entertaining show for the fans. We are looking forward to less
rain and bigger and better things in 2007.
