Engine woes keep Micks from winner’s circle at Cayuga; Team remains in second place in CASCAR standings

NELLES CORNERS, ON (September 3, 2006) – Engine woes kept Kerry Micks out of the winner’s circle during the running of the Hot Henry 200 CASCAR Super Series race at Cayuga International Speedway last Sunday, but the veteran stock car driver is still second in the point race for 2006.

“It started out a great weekend,” said a disappointed Micks after the 200-lap race. “We were hoping to take the Berkshire Group/Canadian Detailing Services Ford Taurus to a podium finish, but it just didn’t happen.”

The Mt. Albert driver and team owner of Micks Motorsports qualified well for the race on the big Cayuga oval, starting in fourth. He was running in second spot, got tangled up with a lapped car, and lost track position. Then on lap 171 the engine in his Taurus died, and the team’s race was over. He finished 18th in the 27-car field.

“We’re pretty disappointed, no two ways about it,” Micks added. “But we’re running on a low budget this year, and the engine broke big-time.”

The Micks Motorsports Team remains second in the point’s standings, just ahead of Cayuga winner Dave Whitlock of Wyoming, ON.

Dave Whitlock won Sunday night’s ‘Hot Head Henry 200 Powered by Griddly Headz’ CASCAR Super Series race at Cayuga International Speedway followed by Ron Beauchamp Jr. in second and Mark Dilley in third.

The next event for Micks Motorsports will be round eleven of the 12-event CASCAR Super Series at Autodrome St-Eustache featuring the CASCAR 200, September 9 in St-Eustache, Quebec just outside of Montreal.
