Steve Barnett Leads Flag-to-Flag at Brownstown for First Win in 2006!

May 23, 2006

(FRANKLIN, INDIANA) For the first time in the young 2006 racing season,
Steve Barnett and his #89 team reached victory lane in a Dirt Late Model
event! On Saturday, May 20, the Franklin, Indiana based team traveled south
to the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana for a $1,200 to win show.
After taking the win in his heat race to earn the outside pole position for
the 25-lap feature event, Steve led every lap of the A-Main behind the wheel
of his J.D. Byrider / Tony Stewart Motorsports / Rayburn / Jeff Clements
Racing Engines sponsored Monte Carlo. Steve was able to beat Patrick
Sheltra and Justin Blackwell, among others, to the finish line. In only
five events so far this season, the "Franklin Flyer" has racked up one win
and three Top Five performances!

“It feels good to get that first win under our belt!” exclaimed Barnett
following the win at Brownstown over the weekend. “Our cars have been
pretty good all year long and my crew has done a great job maintaining and
setting up the cars. On Saturday night, they got the car freed up from the
center of the corner off and it handled perfectly. Hopefully, we can keep
it going and compete for the $2,500 top prize this weekend at Brownstown.”

The Steve Barnett Racing team will once again invade the Brownstown Speedway
in Brownstown, Indiana this coming Saturday night, May 27. The second
annual ‘Hall of Fame Classic’ is on tap at the famed 1/4-mile, semi-banked
oval on Saturday and a $2,500 payday is up for grabs. Steve finished fifth
in last year’s inaugural version of the unsanctioned event. For more
