Patrick Sheltra Inks Driver Development Deal with Bobby Jones Racing

INDIANTOWN, FLORIDA - January 24, 2006 - "Mr. Showtime" Patrick Sheltra inked a deal today with the Bobby Jones Driver Development Program for the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

Patrick will be competing in at least five events for the BJR team in 2006.
Patrick will be in action at the Nashville Superspeedway, the Kentucky Speedway, the Pocono Raceway, the Michigan International Speedway, and the Kansas Speedway. There is a possibility that the five race deal could turn into even more, as the Bobby Jones Racing team plans to field cars for each ARCA event this season. The young Indiantown, Florida driver was very excited to say the least about the opportunity with Bobby Jones Racing.

"It is an exciting venture for me and I have to thank everyone at Bobby Jones Racing for the opportunity to be involved in their ARCA Driver Development Program," commented Sheltra earlier today. "They have great equipment and provide one of the best cars on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit today. More information will be made available concerning the ride, as soon as all of the details are finalized."

Patrick's ARCA schedule so far looks like this:
April 15, 2006 - Nashville Superspeedway May 13, 2006 - Kentucky Speedway June 10, 2006 - Pocono Raceway June 16, 2006 - Michigan International Speedway July 1, 2006 - Kansas Speedway You can learn more about these events by logging onto www.arcaracing.com.

Bobby Jones is the owner of Bobby Jones Racing, a business built on 41 years of experience in the automotive industry, the majority of which has been associated with testing and production. His business experience was founded on the bedrock of automotive innovation and advances: Auto racing. As a teenager, Bobby learned to fix cars that his father built and progressed from racing cars on the beach to the pinnacle of the racing world, NASCAR events. Along the road, Bobby worked with many legendary people including:
Tiny Lund, Bud Moore, Parnelli Jones, Ford Motor Company, Junior Johnson, Cale Yarbrough, Darrell Waltrip, Ford backed Holman & Moody, Mark Martin, Rick Hendrick, Greg Sacks, Edmund Richardson, Page Jones, and many others.
In the process, Bobby drove, built, was the pit crew, shop foreman, division manager and key contributor to racing teams that participated in NASCAR, Busch Grand National, ARCA, and NHRA races that won two Trans-Am Championships and three Winston Cup Championships.

In addition to building race cars, teaching metal fabrication, welding, and race car construction techniques, Bobby also ran a race car driving school.
He teamed up with Slick 50 as a sponsor and did the testing of their product during 1991, 1992, and 1993. This helped propel the oil additive into one of the top spots of that very competitive market. In the process, Bobby has earned a reputation for thoroughness of preparation and quality of work that reflects his championship experience in the world of auto racing. He has gathered a collection of highly skilled mechanics, metal fabricators, technicians, engineers, and business managers that help him put pencil to paper before putting the pedal to the metal. And that’s what makes Bobby Jones Racing ahead of the pack in both testing and production in the automotive world today.

Patrick Sheltra Dominates Hobby Stock 100 at Volusia Before Suffering Mechanical Failure

January 23, 2006

(INDIANTOWN, FLORIDA) For eighty-one laps on Saturday evening, Patrick Sheltra made the $5,000 to win Hobby Stock feature event at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida a snoozer, as he ran off and hid from the rest of the field. While enjoying more than a twenty car-length lead on the second place runner with less than twenty circuits to go, Patrick busted a rear end gear, ending his stellar run for the $5,000 top prize. With all of the atrocity throughout the event due to the rough track conditions, Patrick was still able to finish ninth in the final rundown of his opening event for 2006.

“That one definitely got away,” plainly stated the young Indiantown, Florida driver on Monday. “The track was extremely rough and you couldn’t find a groove to get away from all of the ruts. You just had to drive through them and hope your car held up. Unfortunately for us the rear end gear let go and so did our chances of winning the $5,000. I said last week that the race was more for fun than the money, but you hate to lose the race in that fashion after having the field pretty much covered. We all had a good time though and I am looking forward to the start of our Dirt Late Model season at Brunswick on February 1.”

Patrick was the second fastest car in qualifying on Friday, only being bested by his team car, which was driven by Michael Lloyd. Both Sheltra and Lloyd took their respective heat race wins, which set-up an all Sheltra Motorsports front row for the 100-lap main event on Saturday evening. Michael didn’t have much better luck than Patrick, as he hit the wall on the first lap after catching a rut, but rebounded to post an eleventh place finish.

Patrick and the Sheltra Motorsports team will now gear up for their Dirt Late Model opener at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia on February 1. He will compete in all four nights of the ‘Super Bowl of Racing II’ at the 5/8-mile Georgia speedplant. From there, the driver of the Sheltra & Sons Construction / Brady Ranch / Petroff Towing #23 Rayburn / Pro Power entry will head to the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida for the 30th edition of the ‘Winternationals.’ He will compete in six straight nights of wheel-to-wheel racing action at the place deemed as the “Clay by the Bay.” His busy Speedweeks will wrap up with six straight nights of Dirt Late Model competition on February 13-18 at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.

Patrick and the Sheltra Motorsports team would like to thank all of their sponsors and supporters including: Sheltra & Sons Construction, Brady Ranch, Petroff Towing, Allabout Flowers, Siboney Contracting Company, C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, Clements Racing Engines, Pro Power Racing Engines, Flora Ganics, Stimmell’s Sport Shop, Johnson & Company, Delph Communications, B&K Sportswear, and VP Racing Fuels.

Patrick Sheltra Opens '06 Campaign at Volusia in Hobby Stock Event

January 17, 2006

(INDIANTOWN, FLORIDA) Patrick Sheltra will kick off his 2006 racing season
this coming weekend, but it will not be behind the wheel of his familiar #23
Dirt Late Model. He will instead compete in a $5,000 to win Hobby Stock
event at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. The ‘Advance
Auto Parts Hobby Stock 100’ will kick off this Thursday, January 19, with an
open practice session at the 1/2-mile, high-banked dirt oval near the
Daytona Beach area. Qualifying and heat races will take place on Friday
evening, with last chance events and the 100-lap feature race to commence on
Saturday. You can learn more about the $5,000 to win event by logging onto
the new Volusia Speedway Park website at www.volusiaspeedwaypark.com.

Patrick will be joined by teammate Michael Lloyd at VSP this weekend. Since
the Sheltra Motorsports team owns two Hobby Stock racecars, Michael Lloyd
will get the nod to drive the second team car for the ‘Advance Auto Parts
Hobby Stock 100’ this weekend.

“I am excited to get back out on the track this weekend and have a lot of
fun,” stated the young Indiantown, Florida driver on Tuesday afternoon.
“There is no pressure running these Hobby Stock cars, so you don’t have to
worry about tearing anything up. I can just go out there and race and have
a good time. Don’t get me wrong, I am out to win that $5,000 top prize, but
we are also there to have a fun, relaxing weekend.”

Patrick and the Sheltra Motorsports team will take to the track for the
first time in Dirt Late Model competition on February 1-4 at the Golden
Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia for the ‘Super Bowl of Racing II.’
“Mr. Showtime” will then bring his Sheltra & Sons Construction / Brady Ranch
/ Petroff Towing #23 Rayburn / Pro Power Monte Carlo to the East Bay Raceway
Park in Gibsonton, Florida for the annual ‘Winternationals’ on February
6-11. Patrick’s busy Georgia/Florida Speedweeks will conclude on February
