BOBBY TURNER POST-HARDEE’S
Canton, GA - 10/14 - Bobby Turner made his second 2002 UDTRA PRO DirtCar Series appearance this past weekend (October 11-12) at Dixie Speedway for the national touring series season ending Hardee’s Shootout. Turner and the Millwood Plumbing team arrived early at the 3/8-mile clay oval on Friday in preparations for that night’s racing action.
“We got here around 10:00am, unloaded, made a few changes to the car, and we are ready to go for qualifying,” comments Turner minutes before his Millwood Plumbing/JP Drilling sponsored Taurus rolled through UDTRA tech inspection.
Turner qualified the #31 Millwood Plumbing/JP Drilling/JKT Investments Rocket Chassis Taurus 23rd out of the 62 car field. Bobby successfully transferred to the 100-lap main event by finishing 3rd in the fifth heat race.
“This is a new car that we have here this weekend,” added Bobby. “We picked up a new Rocket Chassis several weeks ago, and this is the second event that we have raced this particular car. We ran second with it last week at East Alabama, so we are expecting good results with the car this weekend.”
Turner started the $55,000 to win main event from the 15th position and finished the rain shorten event with a solid 11th place showing. Turner’s 11th place finish marks his second top-15 finish in 2002 UDTRA action.
Bobby Turner can be seen in action on SPEED Channel on November 21st at 11:00pm and again on November 25th at 3:00pm.
Turner and crew will now head to Bluegrass Speedway this weekend (October 19-20) for the Dirt Track World Championship (DTWC), which will pay the winner of the event, $50,000. This will be Bobby’s first appearance in the DTWC as well as his first time to Bluegrass Speedway.
“Now that the regular season is over here at Dixie, we are planning on going to some of the big money events around the region,” states Bobby. “We will start with the DTWC this weekend, and I know that we will be at East Alabama for the National 100.”
Bobby Turner’s racing efforts are sponsored by Millwood Plumbing, a commercial and residential plumbing company based out of Acworth, GA, JP Drilling of Canton, GA, and JKT Investments. Turner fields Rocket Chassis with engines by Ernie Elliott Race Engines and Draime Racing Engines.
In 2002 dirt late model action, Bobby scored three feature wins, two at Sugar Creek Raceway (Blue Ridge, GA) and at Rome Speedway (Rome, GA).
