Matt Hawkins, age 18, a regular on the GAS series and 2005 Southern
All-Stars Asphalt Champion, won the Snowflake 100 at Five Flags
Speedway in Pensacola, FL. This is a crate and limited motor prelim to
the Snowball.
Korey Ruble, another GAS race winner, was second, and Cale Gale, a
2005 GAS winner (DQ post-race), was third.
“This is the biggest win of my career,” said Hawkins. “It’s just
great. I knew that we had a good chance, but when we didn’t take tires
I didn’t know how it would play out. The car was real loose getting
in, but everything worked out great.” Hawkins won two GAS races at
Peach State this summer.
Others of note: Ronnie Sanders 7th, David Hole 15th, Doug Stevens
16th, Bubba Pollard 26th, and Dwayne Buggay 28th. The race had 39
starters, but eight were out before lap eight.
