ANGOLA MOTOR SPEEDWAY 2007 DRIVERS MEETING VERY UPBEAT By Kevin Allgire Many new things are in the works at this time and Craig Everage said," That he's in this for the racers and he wants Angola Motor Speedway to be able to pack the stands every race night no matter what it takes"!. Everage has a fantastic schedule for 2007. You can get more info at www.angolaspeedway.net
By Kevin Allgire January 25, 2007 - In 2007 there will be a glow of energy over Angola Motor Speedway located up in the Northeast corner of Indiana. This very fine facility belonging to Richard Poe has been leased to Craig Everage a very engergenic Angola, IN. businessman . Craig has leased the track for one year with the option to buy the facility. Everage brings the knowledge of of racing to the plate by being a Super Late Model racer himself. He owns Everage Auto Sales located in Angola. He’s a Praire Heights School Graduate. He will also be the Track Promoter. Angola Motor Speedway was closed down for the whole 2004 season for reconstruction which saw the whole grandstands, control tower and consession area being replaced. Everage said “ I want to make this place Rock again in 2007”, and that’s exactly what he’s doing with this season’s schedule which will see a band called the Freak Brothers entertaining on July 7th along with a full night of racing. But that’s not where it ends! In 2006 the Super Late Model division was dropped from the schedule and some say it hurt the attendance at the track. Some of the big names such as, Jack Landis, Mike Kugler, Jasper Case, and Stan Perry that had a big fan base were no longer racing. Super Late Model legend Fred Elkins did come back in a template bodied Limited Late Model. In 2007 the Super Late Model Division is back and the Limited Late Model’s are gone. Was this a good dicision? Only time will tell. Other divisions racing will be the Modifieds, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and a new Front Wheel Drive class. Also on the schedule will be some big money races for the Super Late Models paying $2000 to win with a Gaylord Parr Memorial race that will pay $5000 to the lucky winner. There will be some touring series that will make a stop at the speedway as well which include; The Bollhoff Superpro Series, The CRA Late Models, The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Winged Sprints, The O’Reilly USA Modified Series, The MCR Dwarf Series, The NAMRA Formula Indy Series, The Short Track Truck Series and the HOSS Winged Sprint Cars. And if it’s something different that you want to see there will be a “Night Of Destruction” with a Demolition Derby, a Mini Stock Enduro, School Bus Races, Motorcycle Wheelie Contest, Burn Out Contest, and a Truck VS Truck pull. There will even be a night where go karts will be racing on the 3/8th mile high bank speedway and there will be a Monster Truck also making an appearance. The first Official night of racing will be April 28th. There will be a race car show and open practice the Saturday before on April
21st. There will be some $1 BEER & $1 HOTDOG nights too. General Admission
will only be $10 and $25 to get into the pits to spend the whole day with your
favorite driver and to see what takes place behind the scenes. On a regular show
night the gates will open at 3pm and racing will start at 7:30pm. Craig has so
many things scheduled for 2007 that’s it’s hard to list everything, so go to
www.angolaspeedway.net to see more of the schedule and to keep updated on new
things happening all season long.
