DeMoss And Wagner Victorious In Modifieds At The Lawrenceburg Speedway; Wieck Crowned Champion

October 01, 2006  - #79D John DeMoss and #28 Bill Wagner secured Budweiser UMP Modified victories this weekend at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in back to back nights of racing during the Lawrenceburg Fall Classic Nationals, while #BB1 Brad Wieck cinched the Lawrenceburg Speedway Modified Track Championship after finishing 2nd and 3rd in Friday and Saturday's Feature action.

On Friday night, heat races were won by #38S Jeff Bland, Jr.,# 52T Shawn Tolson, #79D John DeMoss and #BB1 Brad Wieck. Eventual race winner, John DeMoss, would redraw the outside of the front row starting position, next to pole sitter Brad Wieck. DeMoss would overtake Wieck in Feature action, with Wieck taking home 2nd place honors and #T9 Ryan Thomas, #38S Jeff Bland, Jr. and #D1 of hard charging (from 13th) JD Largent rounding out the top 5.

Saturday night's action saw #82 Ronnie Niehaus, #38S Jeff Bland, Jr., #B79 Jeff Harris, #28 Bill Wagner and #BB1 Brad Wieck all win heat races. Wagner's preliminary victory enabled him to redraw for Feature starting position, where he would pull the pole. Wagner would parlay that effort into a dominating performance, taking home Saturday night's victory with ease. Wagner was chased to the line by #38S Jeff Bland, Jr., #BB1 Brad Wieck, #79D John DeMoss and #82 Ronnie Niehaus rounding out the top 5.

This weekend marked the final championship points races for The Lawrenceburg Speedway. Defending Track Champion, Brad Wieck, made it two in a row, by securing the 2006 Lawrenceburg Speedway Budweiser UMP Modified Crown. Wieck's performance in the 2006 season was certainly championship form, with Wieck having raced in every single Feature event (this is the 2nd consecutive season where the #BB1 of Wieck has not missed a Feature) as well as securing 3 wins and a slew of podium finishes. 2004 Lawrenceburg Speedway Modified Track Champion, JD Largent, was runner-up for 2006 championship points.

Though Championship racing has finished for the 2006 season, racing is by no means over at The Lawrenceburg Speedway. Next weekend, October 6th & 7th, Lawrenceburg Speedway will feature Kart Fest, a kart-lovers extravaganza. The following weekend, Lawrenceburg Speedway will feature the one-of-a-kind racer's party of the year on October 12th-15th, the 11th annual Lawrenceburg Speedway Funfest. Funfest features non-stop racing action with complimentary entertainment and fun for all ages, all weekend long. Log on to www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com for additional information.
