Ponderosa Speedway Delays Starts of 2007 Racing Season Junction City, KY-March 5, 2007- Track promoter Larry Yantz and his staff are hard at work attempting to make several improvements at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the upcoming 2007 racing season. The main improvement going on is a track resurfacing project that has been stalled and delayed by recent cold and wet weather. That being said, the scheduled practice that was set for Sunday, March 11, has been cancelled and tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, April 1. This also means that the March 18 opening date for race action has also been cancelled, with the tentative opening night of racing action now scheduled for Friday night, April 6. Mr. Yantz and his staff apologize for the delay in getting the season started, but would like to have some extra time to get the new racing surface in the best possible shape before putting cars on the track. Ponderosa Speedway will host four O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series events in 2007 and a pair of NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series races as well. Those drivers that were 2006 track champions include Bobby Carrier, Jr. of Harrodsburg, KY in Late Models, Shane McKinney of Harrodsburg, KY in Modifieds, Peydon Pelphrey of Winchester, KY in Bombers, and Randy Maybrier of Waynesburg, KY in Chevettes. The 2007 racing season will not only see a change in the track’s surface, but also a change in the racing divisions on tap each week at the 3/8 mile D-Shaped dirt oval located just outside of Junction City, KY on the Boyle/Lincoln County border. The Super Late Models, Modifieds, and Chevettes will remain on the racing card, but will be joined by the Sportsman (replaces the Bomber division), while the StormPay Crate Late Models and Frontrunner divisions will join the racing card, making for a six-pack of racing action on Friday nights. Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane just outside of Junction City, KY. Larry Yantz is the track promoter and dirt track sports entertainment is presented every Friday night from April through September.
