M.A.R.S. Lucas Oil Speedway Event Moved To Sunday Afternoon
Batesville, Arkansas (4/12/07) – Due to a threatening forecast and cold weather, officials with Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri have decided to move the M.A.R.S./M.L.R.A. Challenge event scheduled for Saturday, April 14th to Sunday afternoon, April 15th .
The pit gate opens at 10 a.m. with the grandstand gate opening at noon. Hot laps are slated for 1:00 with racing action to follow. The feature event will pay $3,000 to win and $500 to start. For more information, please visit www.LucasOilSpeedway.com and www.MidAmericaRacingSeries.com .
M.A.R.S. Double Header On Tap For Billy James
Sikeston, Missouri (4/11/07) – After a three week break, Billy James and James-Robinson Motorsports will return to action this weekend for a M.A.R.S. double header in Illinois and Missouri.
On Friday, April 13th, Billy will head to Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois for the 2007 Mid America Racing Series season opener. The event pays $3,000 to win and $500 to start for the 40 lap event. James has been to Tri City Speedway for the first time, but his previous experience will be of no benefit as the track has been reduced from a ˝ mile to a 3/8 mile for the 2007 season. Kicks Off 2007 With Double Header Weekend
The 2006 season was a strong year for the M.A.R.S. tour with seven different drivers picking up feature wins during the course of the twenty-one race schedule. Twenty one races are already scheduled for the 2007 tour with more dates to be added in the next few weeks. 2007 is shaping up to be another great season with 2006 Champion, Bill Frye (Arkansas), headlining the list of drivers returning to the M.A.R.S. tour. Frye has amassed four series’ titles to date, and will be looking to add a fifth championship this year. Terry Phillips (Missouri), who is the only other driver to ever win a M.A.R.S. championship, owns three series’ titles will be looking to stop Frye in his tracks. Other drivers, who are expected to possibly compete for the championship in 2007 include Jeff Taylor (Arkansas), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Will Vaught (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Joey Mack (Missouri), Billy James (Missouri), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Jeremy Payne (Missouri), and many more.

What used to be a ˝ mile oval, is now a 3/8 mile dirt track The new track features 10 degrees banking in the corners and is 70 feet wide all the way around. On Saturday, April 14th, the resident Martians will visit unfamiliar territory as they invade the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri to challenge the MLRA Super Late Model Series. Lucas Oil Speedway is a top notch 3/8 mile, clay oval. This will mark the inaugural visit of the M.A.R.S. tour to the facility and a great deal of excitement has been generated by the event.
