RACING TRIPLE HEADER THIS WEEKEND AT CALHOUN COUNTY AND SPARTAN SPEEDWAYS Engines will be roaring Memorial Day weekend at Calhoun County and Spartan Speedways with action all three nights. The racing weekend kicks off Friday night at Spartan with "Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts Old Timers Night." Many of the former champions from both tracks will be on hand for a special ceremony at intermission. The CARQUEST Racing Series will be in action featuring Andrews Chevrolet Super Late Models, Michigan Army National Guard Modifieds, Performance Automotive Northwest Street Stocks and Q 106 Pony Stocks. Gates open at 5 and race time is 7:30 pm. The second "Fill the Stands Night" will be on tap Saturday at Calhoun County Speedway. General admission for everyone 13 and up will be only $ 6 with all kids 12 and under FREE. Modifieds, Street Stocks, and the MCR Dwarf Cars will be in competition on the 3/8 ths. mile high banked paved oval and some lucky fans will receive pace car rides at intermission.. Gates open at 5 with racing at 7 pm sharp. Sunday the action returns to Spartan with the first Figure 8 event of 2005 for the "Capital City Madmen." The first of five "Sunday Street Stock Slugfest Specials" will be racing along with the super fast Wolverine Outlaw Midgets and the MCR Dwarfs. Performance Automotive Northwest is the sponsor of this event which opens the gates at 3:30 pm with racing beginning at 6 pm. SPARTAN AND CALHOUN COUNTY SPEEDWAYS GEAR UP FOR 2005 Spartan Speedway in Mason, MI. and Calhoun County Speedway in Springport, MI. are readying for their perspective 2005 season openers. New division sponsors highlight the 2005 CARQUEST Racing Series at both tracks. Andrews Chevrolet in Mason is the new Spartan Super Late Model division sponsors. The Michigan National Guard will support the modifieds and Greg Vogt's Performance Automotive Northwest in Jackson returns as Street Stock sponsor at both ovals. Q 106.1 FM, Lansing's Rock Station is the new Pony Stock supporter. Spartan opens its doors for the 28th. season under the ownership of "Poor Paul" Zimmerman on Friday, April 23 with a regular program of Super Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pony Stocks. Season highlights include the second "Faster Pastor" race on May 20, Street Stock figure 8's on five special Sunday events, the SUPERPRO Series on June 12 and together with the super lates on August 7, School Bus Figure 8's on August 5 and September 9, and the "Harvest 250" on September 4. The first ever Pony Stock Figure 8 will be scheduled at a later date. New to the regular Friday program at Spartan is the "Family Pass." Two adults and two kids ages 6 to 12 will be admitted for only $25 and the same deal will be offered at special events for only $35, a savings of $11. Gates open at Spartan on Fridays at 5 pm with racing at 7:30 pm sharp. Sunday events have the gates opening at 3:30 pm with racing at 6 pm. Calhoun County Speedway opens its second season under the ownership of Zimmerman and Jim Leasure on Saturday, April 30 with the first of five "Fill The Stands Nights." All general admission tickets for these events will be only $ 6 with kids 12 and under admitted FREE when accompanied by an adult at all 2005 CCS races. The SUPERPRO Series will compete ten times at Calhoun County in 2005 along with Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pony Stocks, Short Track Trucks, Legends, Midgets, Dwarfs plus other divisions. The ASA Late Model Series will run the "Snap On Tools 100" at CCS on May 14. Gates open every Saturday at CCS at 4:30 pm with racing at 7 pm.
