Johnson Makes It Three In A Row At Fergus Falls Raceway
By Dean Reller

FERGUS FALLS, MN (August 5, 2005) - Joey Johnson continued his hot streak as he won his third consecutive ASA Super Late Model Feature at the Fergus Falls Raceway. John Froelich in his first Late Model start at Fergus Falls Raceway, took the lead from the start as fifth starting Johnson moved to second. Johnson pulled alongside on lap four and two laps later, he made the pass exiting turn two. Once in front, Johnson began to pull away until a late caution for Jeff Lofquist’s disabled car brought everyone back together. Johnson controlled the restart as Froelich and Jason Rund fought it out for second. Johnson scooted away in the final laps to take his third win in as many weeks.

Rich Snyder used a good start to make a great finish as he won the Modified Feature. Snyder took off from the outside pole and held the lead as Joey Johnson followed him in second. The lead cars were nose-to-tail and side-by-side nearly the entire race. Johnson looked to pass on the inside several times, but in each instance, Snyder remained in control. They would run the entire race within one car length of each other as Snyder held on for the win.

Tim Brockhouse captured his 40th career Great North Legends Feature in a race which saw his son Jaycen survive a frightening crash. Matt Hendrickson led from the wave of the green, but on lap three, Rollie Davidson brushed the turn four wall to bring out a caution. On the restart Hendrickson held the lead, but as everyone exited turn two, Tim Brockhouse slipped by Hendrickson, who hit the wall and then had Jaycen Brockhouse run over the side of him. This caused Brockhouse to roll onto his roof and slide upside-down for several feet. As the car headed for the infield, it barrel-rolled about four times before coming to a rest on all four tires. A brief fire erupted as drivers and safety workers rushed to pull Jaycen from his car. Although the car suffered extensive damage, Jaycen had only a sore right arm. When racing restarted, Tim Brockhouse held off Jon Lewerer the rest of the way as he went on to the win.

Mark Milbeck made it two straight as he won the Thunder Car Feature. Starting on the pole, Milbeck took the lead from the start as Kurt Kort pulled right behind. Kort stayed glued to Milbeck’s rear the entire race, but couldn’t find a way around as Milbeck led from flag-to-flag.

Adam Fronning planned on hanging up his helmet a few weeks ago, but he was not only back on the track, he was back in Victory Lane following the UCAR Feature. Fronning took the lead right away as fifth starting David Bolstad wasted no time in moving to the second spot. Duane Werner and Jesse Dreschel tangled on the front stretch as they brought out an early caution. Fronning and Bolstad resumed their battle on the restart as they pulled away from the rest of the field. Bolstad looked to the low side several times, but Fronning wasn’t going to let up as he led every lap in taking the win.

Justin Kort was declared the winner in the Pure Stock Feature. Dustin Karl took the lead from the start, but he brought out the yellow when he hit the wall on lap one. On the restart there was more contact amongst the field as Rick Hoeper Jr took the lead. Hoeper stayed in front as he led the way to the checkered flag. The early race contact dealt Hoeper and Karl penalties which moved Kort up to take the win.
