FAP/WCS Readying For ’07 Season Kick-Off The ’07 Pre-Season Practice Night will be held Tuesday March 27 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM and in years past will cost $50.00 per racecar. On Saturday evening March 31 the ’07 Season Opener brought to you by Federated Auto Parts will jumpstart the ’07 racing season at the 3/8 mile banked dirt oval. This weekend Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway is an active participant at the annual Federated Auto Parts sponsored I-X Center Autorama car show in Cleveland, OH spreading the word about FAP/WCS and it’s 2007 racing season. On display in the FAP/WCS booth was Clint Coffman’s new Barry Wright Race Cars #2c Super Late Model. FAP/WCS owner Ernie Coffman and General Manager Chuck Griffith announced that the decision to make Race-Receivers mandatory has been on hold temporarily. “I think they are a great idea, but we want to try them out and test them before we make them mandatory,” stated track owner Ernie Coffman. “We’re going to get a couple dozen or more of them, have some of the guys and gals try them out and see how everyone likes them before we make a final decision.” Sometime over the next several weeks, weather permitting, the parking lot will undergo a facelift and renovation. “We have 500 ton of 304 limestone on order,” explained Coffman. “Former track owner Wayne Phillips’ Phillips Excavating will be doing the work for us to get that parking lot looking good and more functional again.” In other updated news, the 2007 division rules have been posted on the track’s website. Drivers are also encouraged to send in their registrations early. No registrations will be accepted on opening day. ’07 Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway Schedule Released Orrville, OH - March 9, 2007 - The 2007 schedule for the Federated Auto Parts Wayne County Speedway racing season has been released with a jam-packed season of dirt track racing at the popular 3/8 mile oval located south of Orrville, OH that will spotlight Super Late Models, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Pure Stocks & Mini Stocks each Saturday night. Additionally, a number of special events have been planned according to track owner Ernie Coffman and General Manager Chuck Griffith. The season opener will be held on Saturday March 31. “The first part of the season is a little light because of potential rain we don’t want to get backed up,” commented Ernie Coffman, owner & promoter of FAP/WCS. “But boy, the Big 8 Series, I’m telling you we’ve really had a lot of people calling about that. And working with Bob Schippers at Lakeville Speedway, he is really good to work with. And with Chuck (Griffith) on board now 100% as General Manager, he will grow things in a positive area. It will be good.” FAP/WCS’ strong weekly show will be bolstered by the return of Sprint Cars weekly for 2007. “At the very beginning I told them we’d give them at least three years,” said Coffman. “I thought we’d have a few race cars but man, those guys are building Sprint Cars for Wayne County. This Big 8 Series, we think next year it might turn into the Big 12 Series, but yes, it will be a good one, a big, big weekend over Labor Day for the 2nd Annual Summer Sizzler Labor Day Clash.” The Big 8 Series for Super Late Models, held in conjunction with Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH, will he held on June 2, June 30, August 4 & September 1.
