BALTES NAMED CHILI BOWL GRAND MARSHAL

TULSA, Okla. - January 6, 2006 - Legendary auto racing promoter Earl Baltes will make a special guest appearance at the 20th Annual O’Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals at the Tulsa Expo Center on Friday, January 13. Baltes is serving as Grand Marshal for this year’s Chili Bowl.

Baltes will appear at the Sprint Car & Midget Magazine booth inside the main entrance of the Expo Center on Friday, where he will sign autographs and greet fans from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and again from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Also available will be copies of his best-selling autobiography, EARL!, which was published in early 2005.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the Chili Bowl again, it’s a great event and the people there are wonderful,” said Baltes. “Being Grand Marshal will be exciting, I’ll just have to be careful not to say any off-color words if I’m on the microphone in front of that great big crowd!”

Joining Baltes at the autograph session will be Sprint Car & Midget writer and columnist Dave Argabright, who also served as co-author of EARL!.

Earl remains an icon in the sport, following a career as one of the most colorful and accomplished personalities in all of auto racing. He opened the famous Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio in 1954, and along with wife Berneice built it into one of the most successful racing facilities in the world. Earl and Berneice retired in late 2004 with the sale of the track to Nextel Cup star Tony Stewart.

Earl is a past recipient of the Auto Racing Promoter of the Year award, and is a member of both the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame.

For information on the book, EARL!, visit www.daveargabright.com or call (317) 631-0437.
