DiCarlo captures first round
victory
Phoenix, Ariz. – February 10, 2005 – Star Mazda racer Gabi DiCarlo of
Phoenix, Ariz., won the first round of the Star Mazda West Coast Championship in
Fontana, Calif.
Gabi was pleased with her performance in the qualifying and final race. “We
had another successful weekend. It’s always nice to start the season out with
a win,” said Gabi.
Qualifying second on Saturday morning, Gabi started in second place going into
the final race Saturday afternoon. Gabi started the final 30 minutes race
passing the first place qualifier before turn one. She led up until the full
course caution and after the green flag, Gabi got a great restart and kept the
first place position for the rest of the race.
“My crew worked very hard all weekend to give me a great car and they were as
much of a part of the win as I was,” said Gabi. “The support I receive on
and off the track from fans, Moses Smith Racing, Great Clips and everyone else
also greatly contributes to every victory,” added Gabi.
