Danny Edwards Wins Langley Speedway 100 After tire issues for many of the Late Model driver’s during qualifying, new tires were issued and five heat laps were given prior to the start of the events. During the heat laps, Greg’s right front tire was slightly nicked but after the inspection, they felt confident in would wear-in once they could get a few more laps in on it. With 15 cars slated for the start, Greg ducked in behind the 40 of Mark Wertz as they entered turn 1 and Danny jumped up to third and right behind his brother. Greg barreled ahead and stayed close to Wertz as they began to separate from the rest of the field. With only 9 laps on the board, Greg made his move to take the lead. As they entered turn 1, Greg moved his 27 under the 40 car of Wertz as Danny stayed close behind in third. The three Dodge’s made up the top three as they held on for the ride. With 40-laps to go, Danny started to close in on Wertz for second and in lap 63, he made his move. The 26 came under the 40 in turn 3 and they stayed side-by-side as they made their way down the front-stretch. Just as they came out of turn 1, Danny stepped it up and cleared Wertz for the second place position. With only 26 laps to go, Danny picked up the pace in pursuit of his brother. Greg was leading by a half straight-a-way from his brother who was in second and by a full straight-a-way from Wertz who was holding on to third. By 10 laps to go, Greg had a straight-a-way advantage on his brother and a half a track advantage on Wertz. With just 6-laps to go, Greg was making his way out turn 4 when he felt the right front tire give. He called in to the crew over the radio, “right front, right front”. He made his way down the front stretch as a display of fireworks trailed from behind. As Greg entered turn 2, the tire had finally gone and the 27 dove down the track into a spin. The caution flag was out and one lap was given for the 27 to get back around to the pits and for the crew to change the tire. The crew worked in unison as they replaced the tire and got Greg and the 27 back in to the rear of the field before the restart. Danny now in the lead as Greg was making his way back to the front. It was a
fierce fight to try and regain his position with just 6-laps to go. Greg was
passing cars turn for turn as he made his way to finish fifth. Edwards Motorsports has re-launched their website.
