By Bob Reed Bridgeport, WV - 1/12/06 - The owners of the Elkins Speedway have announced that the 3/8 mile speedway located north of Elkins off Corrider H at Kerens has been leased for the 2006 racing season to CG Promotions headed by Elkins Businessman Brad Hutton. CG Promotions have announced an ambitious list of Pre-Season improvements prior to opening for practice on Friday night April 21st. Opening night will be Friday night April 28th. These improvements include new clay on the racing surface, updates to the lighting system and removal of the Moto-Cross track from the infield. All 5 classes that raced at the speedway in 2005 will be returning for 2006 headed by the Budweiser Late Models, J&M Grafix Semi Late Models, Miller’s Used Cars AMRA Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders. No sponsors have been announced for PS or 4 Cyl but will be forthcoming. A full schedule is not available at this time but returning will be the Chuck Gear Memorial and R.H. Armstrong Memorial for Late Models, the Roy’s RV Supercenter specials for Late Models and Semi Lates, an appearance by the AMRA Road Warrior Tour, the 38th Annual Mountain State Forest Festival Invitational and the Annual Huge Independence Day FireWorks Display.
